Following the Inn river from Innsbruck to Rosenheim
After the Brennero a flat stage is what we deserve and from Innsbruck to Rosenheim it is still better because the path goes very slightly downhill.. Not really a significant downhill but more the sensation to have a light wind from the back and by bycicle this is always a nice sensation.
We set off with good weather, as in the previous days, as usual at 8.00 from the hotel in direction of the Golden roof, symbol of Innsbruck, to take a picture of the group. The moltitudine of Chinese tourists looked at us with interest and when we offered them to take a picture together a big number of them jumped in the set of the picture. Several of them also asked to have a picture one to one with some of us.
We are quite sure they didn’t realize the meaning of our initiative but for sure in the next weeks RWU will be part of their storytelling in China after a fantastic holiday in Europe.
After around 15 km we had to stop for the first time, because Giampaolo’s pedal was broken. This is the opportunity for a nice stop in Hall, a nice city where the Taler, the first example of coin, was created.
During the stop in the very nice square we met a very energetic 80-year-old man that told us about his experience when he was 15 years old and rode to Venice by bycicle. “There were no cars on the road and it was an amazing experience with only 500 Shelling in my pocket”. He told us also about when he climbed the Grossklockner with short trouser…and it stared to snow. RWU is a very easy trip in comparison with his experience. But time is going by and we need to move.
After almost 15-20 km we had a very short stop to have a look at the very nice church of Schwaz and the annexed cloister. Checking the time and the distance we realized that we were a little bit too relaxed (the Brennero day after effect…) and there was still a long distance to Rosenheim
We had a stop in Kufstein for lunch in the same place where Claudio and Daniele stopped in 2014 to have breakfast with the traditional bretzel, Weisswurst and sweet mustard. The menu is the same with the addition of a traditional Dunkel Weissbier.
Kufstein would deserve more time for a visit, but after the lunch break we had to move quickly by bike. The Inn river is very large here and the mountain on the back mirrored on the water created an amazing landscape.
We arrived in Rosenheim after 5.30 pm after another long day on our bike and 131 km done thanks only to our bike and our legs.
The weather forecast indicated a high risk of rain for tomorrow. But tomorrow is another day…
