Riding from Venice to Bonn for Climate Change

WHY TO RIDE TO BONN?
From the 6th to the 17th November, Bonn will be hosting the 23rd Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC* (COP23).
COP23 will be a crucial conference, with first steps of the Paris Agreement implementation and at the same time the first conference where the new appointed Trump Administration will show its position on climate change to the world.
THE PROJECT
Our journey is an opportunity to underline the importance of maintaining a constant high level of attention on climate change.
With this project we also want to underline the importance of personal behaviours in any GHG reduction policies and to share this view with people we will meet during our ride and at any evening public event.
The structure of our website (www.ridewithus.eu) is meant to facilitate the free participation of everyone in our project riding with us, even just for a few kilometers, to show the personal involvement on climate change issues.
THE TRIP
The start will take place on November 1st 2017 from Venice and after 10 days we plan to arrive the 10th of November in Bonn.

THE STORY
The journey will be reported day by day by the protagonists with texts and images in a dedicated website (www.ridewithus.eu) and in the Facebook page of Ride With Us.
The website already contains the story of our previous three trips, when we rode around 2.000 km from Venice to Copenhagen (2014), 1.350 km to Paris (2015) and 600 km to Turin (2016).

*About the UNFCCC
With 195 Parties, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has near universal membership and is the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol has been ratified by 192 of the UNFCCC Parties. For the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, 37 States, consisting of highly industrialized countries and countries undergoing the process of transition to a market economy, have legally bound emission limitation and reduction commitments. In Doha in 2012, the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol adopted an amendment to the Kyoto Protocol, which establishes the second commitment period under the Protocol. The ultimate objective of both treaties is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system.
