From Bolzano to Glorenza and from zero to minus 4°C, this is the synthesis of the third stage of Ride With Us tour.
Paul Rösch, Mayor of Merano, and Andrea Rossi, Vice-mayor joined us when we left from piazza Walter in Bolzano. Both rode with us until Merano and also 10 km forward. We have been very happy for their participation, because they recognized the importance of our project exactly in the same way as we intended it: riding together. But even because they are fantastic people and we really felt honored by their participation.
After that Paul and Andrea guided us to a beautiful swimming pool where no chemicals are used and the water is cleaned by phyto-depuration.
Then we met all together at Merano town hall, where Bruno Montali illustrated us actions undertaken to implement the PAES (Piano d’azione per l’energia sostenibile – Sustainable Energy Action Plans) document. Bruno explained us a recent and very interesting project to increase the awareness on climate change in the citizens. A sort of “rating footprint”. The idea is to map the daily activities of a person, according to his/her the style of life (I.e. what you eat or how you move). The target is to stay below the rate of 100. Bruno tried to apply this tool to a classic day of our Ride With Us tour. What is very interesting is that we achieved the target because we are transporting our luggage by ourselves and not with a support car for the project. This is a clear indication of how important transport system is for any climate target. Another evident critical point is what we eat, with the clear suggestion to reduce our consumption of meat (red meat in particular).
Then we started the first part of our climb towards the Resia pass.
