From Venice to Copenhagen by bicycle for climate change – from 14 to 30 October 2014
It is no longer time to talk about climate change, now it is necessary to ride!
Daniele Pernigotti and Claudio Bonato, from Venice, are convinced of that and decided to cover about 2,000 km in a little more than two weeks, in order to connect ideally the town of Venice with the town of Copenhagen, right in the sign of the greatest environmental threat of our era.
Daniele Pernigotti is a biologist and works for ACCREDIA, the Italian Accreditation Body, as assessor, specialized in environmental sectors, such as environment management systems, greenhouse gas inventories, Carbon Footprint of Product.

The occasion of the ride is the presentation of the 5AR Synthesis Report of the IPPC, the world’s largest group of climate scientists, which will take place on October 31st in the Danish capital.
Riding through 4 European countries is not the purpose of the project, but a pretense to increase the attention on this topic. That is why the two friends have organized along the way a number of conferences and meetings, all focused on the scientific analysis of the problem and on the possible options to tackle it concretely, starting from the incentives for renewable energy and passing to the tools available for carbon management for companies and the energy efficiency of buildings.
Anybody is welcome to join the ride, starting on October 14th, also just for a few kilometers. The details of the stages can be found on the website www.ridewithus.eu On the same site is available a funny tool, which permits to localize the two cyclists, and see in every moment in which point of their way they are currently riding.
The project has the patronages of the Italian Ministry of Environment and the Municipality of Venice, Schio, Rovereto, Bozen, and Nürnberg. It is also supported by the most important association of cyclists in Italy, Austria, Germany and Denmark.
“We are very proud of the project Ride with us realized by Daniele Pernigotti and Claudio Bonato, where Daniele is one of our most brilliant assessors”, said Federico Grazioli – President of ACCREDIA, the Italian Accreditation Body. “Our association is involved in the assessment of the competence and impartiality of certification bodies carrying out verification activities on greenhouse gas emissions (EU ETS) in some productive sectors such as steel mills, chemical plants and refineries, and most recently worked on bodies dealing with calculating the total impact of a product on global warming and with evaluating management systems for sustainability of events. From the end of July ACCREDIA has the task of defining the certification schemes for a wide range of professionals in the field of energy efficiency as experts in energy management and energy auditors”.
